Hello

You will never lose,
What has made you great,
Though challenges will forever make you doubt,
Your abilities,

Because they will all be new to you,
Because each problem is approached fresh,
Which lengthens times, but increases interest,
And creates newness.

So when it all seems too overwhelming,
And you're afraid you can't do it,
Remember the only reason for the volume,
Is your past interest,

In being alright,
And doing your best,
And having no malice for the things you do,
And the opinions of the rest.

Navigating Your Existence

It's all coming together now,
Though I'm not sure what,
The universe is expecting of me,
To get me out of this rut,

Of just expecting that things will all turn out,
Because, even if it's not the case,
I want to feel like I had a hand in it,
And that I pitched in my share of face,

But I don't want to be presumptuous,
And jinx the goodness that I receive,
Because I can get that superstitious,
Not really knowing what to believe.

But it's alright,
Someone told me she knows the secret,
And that I can know it myself,
And I will then have all I ever wanted.

In A Hurry

There is no more time,
For the old routine,
Everything must be on the fly,
Until arriving,

At a new life where you can settle down.
But will that ever come?
Most people work their whole life to find out,
While it only ever works for some.

Not that one should therefore never try,
In fact, it's inhuman to not,
Or at least it's denying you the pleasure,
Of maximizing on what,

Makes us alright,
Which is the chance that there is something more,
Than what we see, which we will never find out,
Unless blind faith makes us deny our true core.

Chances

How many chances do you get,
At something?
It depends how persistent you are,
At convincing,

Whoever it is that let you do it the first time,
Because there is always someone,
That blesses an act, even if she is in,
Your imagination.

And when you do it again it has to be different,
And so you're not doing it again.
You have to do it with the benefit of experience,
Which you lacked the first iteration.

And it's alright,
If it's even worse the next time round,
Try, try again or you will never know,
If you can do it or you're just a clown.

Attaining Desires

Someday it will all change,
You will be what you want to be,
Except so far as just wanting to be something,
Undermines its reality,

For, where is your mentality,
Than somewhere in the future,
And being everything you want to be,
Implies the present is where you are?

So if you're ever hoping for satisfaction,
Eliminate what might come,
By understanding what there already is,
And how you're already in the best situation.

And it's alright,
If that is hard to do,
If it wasn't it would mean you're not human,
Actually, if you do it, you aren't one, too.

Confidence

It is all so tenuous,
Everything is,
From the faith you put in the unknown,
To your confidence.

Even the greatest people on earth,
Are not immune to this simple fact:
No matter how secure you are one moment,
It can all be stripped from you in a clap.

And why is this? It's because reality,
Is just what you experience,
And can tell you nothing about what's to come,
Even though in our assumptions we are wholly convinced.

And it's alright,
To continue living that way,
Our lives are so infinitesimally short,
There's no time for change, anyway.

What You Think

All I have is what is,
Happening to me,
And what I do and sometimes what I do,
Is unsavoury,

And must be chosen as to when it occurs,
Don't tell me that that's not the case,
With each and every person at some time,
Or am I in a different place?

Am I deprived, you wonder what it could be,
That is happening,
In my mind that I should even go this far,
To make you start wondering.

Well, it's alright,
You can think whatever you'd like,
You'll do that anyway,
And I don't care to fight.

View Your World

If you don't like circumstances,
Wait five minutes,
Everything's so transient,
It's not worth marking it.

And I'm not just talking about how,
You see things,
The same thing you see's not the same thing at all.
Everything's always changing.

And don't forget that it will change in feeling,
From desperate to glorious,
The moment you think about the lives of others,
Depending on how you perceive us.

And it's alright,
No matter what other people do,
The onus on perception is ultimately,
And entirely on you.

Stressful Mistakes

Nobody is perfect,
Anybody can tell you that.
Someone implied to me that she wasn't,
Everyone started to laugh.

So why should errors be such a source,
Of dismay when we make them?
Especially when nothing else is perfect either.
Mistakes are bound to come from some direction.

But some people always come out looking good,
Whether because of their attitude or the way,
Reality molds itself to her actions,
And makes the best out of a bad mistake.

And it's alright,
If you are one of those people,
Of course many lives have been devastated,
By being much more real.

In the Face of Reality

Anything can happen,
Reality proves that,
And the control that we have over it,
Has never been proven by fact,

And when things go our way, do we not always say,
"That was unbelievable"?
We naturally believe things are against all odds,
And yet continue the struggle.

But the alternative is to roll over,
With each new push circumstances offer,
Which inevitably leads us to a place of self-destruction,
Where we are destined to suffer.

And it's alright,
If you want to roll that way,
Many, many people have and do all the time,
Who never felt up to the challenge of reality.

The Circle

How do you find those people,
That will help you do what you,
Want and who what they want are the same,
As you want, too?

And how do you find those people,
That are as motivated about,
The task at hand, so that it is not work?
It's not easy, no doubt.

And how do you find those people,
That share the same philosophy as you,
So that your time together's not onerous,
And you're still friends when the task it through?

It's alright,
If you don't think it's easy.
It's a crap shoot if you think about it,
So don't let them go if they're with you, presently.

Just Do It

If you want to do anything,
You have to make the time,
And doing that doesn't mean dropping everything else,
But understanding the line,

Between doing what you want and what you have to,
And not feeling like you're trapped,
Because that takes energy you need,
For your next amazing act,

And what that is is rooted in honesty,
And in what you truly want to do,
Because when you do what is expected,
You are leaving you.

But it's alright,
That's standard for most people,
And what you don't know won't hurt you,
And you'll never get the bill.

The Challenge

There is a great challenge,
With both time and knoweldge against me,
With just my enthusiasm and faith,
Giving me any hope or dignity.

And if I fail it affects everything,
And may push all of my life back,
While if I succeed, very little will be known,
About the difficulties we will all lack.

But I will do it, fail or succeed,
Or I will not be able to live with myself,
And I will do it all alone,
For no one else will give me help.

And it's alright,
It's like most things with life,
Everything you do, you do alone,
Until there's no more need for sacrifice.

Stick To What You Don't Know

There are times in your life,
That will seem different from the times before,
Like the times you dream of when things are normal,
And you're wishing for an end to the bore,

Times that will soon enough be boring, themselves,
Because excitement's always something new,
And what was, becomes what is wished for again,
Until what is changes, too.

And those around you that don't understand,
Are stuck, themselves, and don't know what to do,
And seeing things happen around them only annoy them,
Especially, when they happen to you.

But, it's alright,
Stick to what you know,
And if the unknown is just that,
Then others will have to eventually let you go.

Juggling

Juggling can be fun,
In a very specific way,
Through the knowledge that you're doing some things,
Simultaneously.

But if people are watching,
And you drop balls every once in a while,
The drops are what become the focus.
It's enough to lose your smile.

And you can only get it back,
With a new audience,
As if you never dropped a ball before,
And you better not drop one since.

'Cause you won't feel alright,
Being known as the dude who tries,
To juggle, but who never gets it right,
Even if that is a lie.

Halfway

Nothing's as bad as it seems,
Though, I know that you would say,
That, no matter how bad other people have it,
You can't help but feel this way,

Which is legitimate, but let me ask you,
If comparison's not the way to your heart,
Will you do those in your life such a diservice,
As to ruin their's because you think yours is hard?

Ultimately it is none of my concern,
For I can block out all negativity,
But that means I also block out its origin,
Which is not attractive to me.

Oh, it's alright,
I could never do that to you.
I'll just try hard to change your reaction,
To all of the things that I do.

Magic

There is still magic in the world,
Reality is proof of that,
But if you need more convincing,
Listen to the day I had:

In the morning I wished I had something,
By the afternoon, I found it in the garbage,
And by the time the set, I had lost it.
Now listen to the same day my love had:

In the morning she heard me complain,
By the afternoon she saw garbage on my head,
And her dreams came true by the time the sun had set.
And this is just how both our lives have been led.

And it's alright,
If you think this isn't magic, but coincidence.
I also believe magic is a commodity,
So you not wanting it is in my benefit.

You're Almost Perfect

No, you are not perfect,
Though you are the most perfect I know,
Which implies there is a perfection to strive for,
And a direction in which to go,

That when acheived results in a human being,
That can no longer be called that,
For, what is human but a lack of knowledge,
Of how to truly act?

And when I see you again out and about,
And you smile just in the right way,
I can't say I will not be dissapointed,
For in that moment, you may actually be away.

But it's alright,
As long as you come back,
From that god-forsaken realm of perfection,
To where there's room for love in imperfect gaps.

Right Place and Time

You can do all the preparing you want,
You can train all night and day,
Only eat those things that will help you perform,
Wake up early and stay up late,

Be kind to people and never lie,
And only have the best intentions,
And assume the best of all you meet,
Regardless of their actions,

You can always be optimistic,
And never pass up an opportunity,
And be the smartest person in the universe,
But you're nothing without the chance to be.

So, it's alright,
If you live your life without recognition.
You'll get your just desserts in some other realm,
At least, that thought can keep you away from depression.

Reaping from the Unknown

How quickly can you change?
That depends on what you mean.
Why would you ask me such a question,
If you really knew who you've been?

You could almost die and the thoughts in your head,
Would belie that you don't know who you are.
You've lost your head and I don't know why,
Until we've walked too far,

And I have to turn back,
Because we've dropped something on the way,
And if we go on without it,
We both know at end of day,

That it won't be alright,
Because we'll be cold and alone,
And wish we'd have taken the extra time,
To leave better prepared, our home.

Window's Open

I'm really bursting now,
Just let me at everything,
But mostly at what I want most,
Which is not worth mentioning,

Because the utterance would debase the intention,
Which is a beautiful thing,
And I think I might just get it now,
If I am correctly reading,

The situation, which I may not be,
Or I might just be ruining,
My chances taking up my time,
With all this thinking.

So, if it's alright,
I'm just going to keep keeping,
Finishing up what I'm doing here,
To get back to real living.

To Change the World

Is it worth it to put yourself in,
An environment completely unlike,
Your own so that the poverty that always exists,
Seems like something you should fight,

And the oppression found everywhere,
Is unnacceptable to you,
So much so that you help the revolution,
And so learn what to do,

When you return to your own land of extremes,
Where the few haves are far fewer than half,
Who could distribute their wealth evenly,
And demolish the system that supplied the cash?

I think it's alright,
But won't change anything,
In either place because what's common in both,
Is human nature is their underpinning.

Crack the Nut

If you're at all wondering,
How to continue on,
Amongst the evils witnessed in the world,
And your own internal revolution,

Against the demands put upon you,
Engineered to keep your mind away,
From thoughts of how to make things easier,
And so undermind society's foray,

Into the cause for itself,
And the creation of a cage,
That fortifies as it rebirths itself,
To accommodate your changing ways,

Then it's not alright,
That you live in relative peace,
Because objectively you're still a prisoner,
And yet better off than most of this planet's peeps.

Doing What You Should

There comes a time when you must,
Let all the dead weight fall,
And do what you were meant to in this world,
If you want to be jovial,

In the real sense, in the purest of all,
The sense that leaves no room for good or bad,
But fills your marrow with the knowledge that,
Doing anything else would be mislead.

And in the end you may be all alone,
And you may be lacking friends,
But my guess is that you will draw many to you,
Because you have conquered life in the end.

Though it's alright,
To live life at half of your potential,
If it means keeping the status quo,
And avoiding being special.

You're By Yourself

How close to the edge can you get,
Without falling in?
Well, I know that the transition is,
No gradual proposition.

You're either sane or out of your mind,
You're either coping or on the other side.
You either crack or keep your wits.
I'd say it's easy, but I would also lie.

But if your circumstances lead you that place,
Where it seems much easier just to lose yourself,
I hope you have friends to keep you in check,
And monitor your mental health.

'Cause it's alright,
For society, wherever you go.
As long as it has a name for you,
And you don't threaten its status quo.

Reciprical

There is no intention of pain,
When I try to understand you,
Just as you hope not to tear at my heart,
With your words, but you do.

And there is no defense because kindness or aggression,
Are received under the same light,
And leave you feeling overwhelmed,
By the world's unforgiving bite.

And Now I must go quickly because the time,
Spent not suffering or pleasing you,
Will surely be repaid with double the pain,
And half of of what I truly do,

Which is try to be alright,
Amidst the odds,
Which is hard to do among the mortar shells,
Launched without a cause.

Choose By Decision

Sometimes you get advise,
From two different sources,
One that you should trust more than another,
But which would irk you as matter of course.

And then the guilt you feel for having to choose,
And to deny one for the other.
Love versus independence, what do you do?
And, of course, is one choice a better offer?

You only live once, and each choice is precious,
Though, nothing to have hang-ups about.
Maybe everything you do should be to please others,
So as not to tear your own heart out.

Oh, it's alright,
So many factors play into it,
That it doesn't really matter what choice you make.
Ultimately, it's not important.

Saturday, May 03, 2008

Anti-Religion

When you have a feeling,
You cannot explain,
And no real event in your life,
Explains why it came,

It does not mean there's no reason for its existence,
Because everything has a cause,
And there is more happening within your mind,
Than can be found by a great genius.

So have some faith, I know that sounds religious,
And, if so, well I don't know,
Why you're so afraid of it anyway,
Because you have nowhere else to go.

And it's alright,
The unknown will always exist,
Just like you're going to die,
Even if you are an atheist.

Tragedy

What is tragic is a blessing,
Because it brings you to the root,
Of what's important and necessary,
And to what is simply moot.

And when you rebuild, you know that the foundation,
You are on is strong and pure,
And you are more intimately aware,
And of your strength you are sure.

And even in tragedy,
What you learn cannot be learned,
From any other method,
And so it is dearly earned.

And it's alright,
If you don't experience tragedy.
Just live your life as if what you see's what's there,
And you can avoid sinking into misery.

Keep Chuggin'

There is a limit,
To production,
Based on the resources available,
And one's dedication,

And it is always exceeded by the world,
And the speed at which it goes.
And how one's supposed to keep up with demand,
Only god knows.

And at some point someone will tell you,
That it's not worth it.
You will die one day and do you really want,
Your memories to always fall within shifts?

But it's alright,
You are not alone.
Society is built on doing things,
Only so you can take the bacon home.
